100 Dinara Note Serbia: The OG of Modern Electricity

The 100 Dinara (RSD) note issued by the National Bank of Serbia was introduced into circulation in 2003. Its dimensions are 143 x 68 mm and the note ranks fourth in size and denomination among the other notes that make up Serbia’s currency suite (the other denominations are: 10, 20, 50, 200, 500, 1000, 2000 and 5,000). Interestingly, the 200 and 500 notes are congruent and although the others bear different sizes, all notes have a rectangular shape.

The Serbian Dinar dates back to the early 13th century, when the first mention of it was recorded. The word “dinar” is derived from “denarius” the Roman word for money (in form of a silver coin). Over the ensuing centuries, the Serbian Dinar was replaced by different currencies due to geopolitical influences that impacted the region, however the Dinar made a resurgence in the mid 19th century. Since then, it stood firm as the national currency whereas Serbia experienced several iterations of its national identity, sovereignty and international borders.

This 2013 series note is the most recent release of the 100 Dinara

Obverse

The obverse of the note is mainly occupied by Nikola Tesla’s portrait, a mathematical formula of the magnetic flux density, and an electrical discharge (located just above the formula). Nikola Tesla (1856 – 1943), was a Serbian-American inventor, physicist and electrical engineer whose contributions to science impacted life as we know it. His work with alternating current (AC) electricity paved the way for its broader application and utilization which remains unchanged today. Tesla’s list of inventions ran long and bore approximately 300 patents worldwide. He is regarded as one of the most prolific inventors and engineers of his time. In his honor, the naming convention for a unit of magnetic flux density became the “tesla”. Perhaps more relatable today, Tesla, the electric car company led by Elon Musk, is also named after the electrical engineer, as a tribute to him.

The note’s impressive blue character is abundantly prominent on the reverse

Reverse

The reverse of the note is dedicated to Nikola Tesla as well, his electromagnetic induction engine, the “Tesla Dove” and the coat of arms of the Republic of Serbia. The dove is symbolic as while living in New York City, a dove would visit Tesla’s room frequently, and he developed a relationship with it. He even claimed that he loved the bird as a man loves a woman. He was fond of pigeons and animals in general and advocated for their rights and preservation. Tesla was also obsessed with the number 3 and he lived part of his life in room 3327 on the 33rd floor of the New Yorker Hotel in Manhattan (New York City).

Security Features

The note’s security features include a Tesla watermark on right panel (when facing the obverse), and a demetallized security thread (a thread characterized by transparent areas on its metallic foil surface). The thread is visible from both sides of the note and the word “Dinara” appears repeatedly in Cyrillic characters (one of the two alphabets used in Serbia, the other being Latin).

My Two Cents

The 100 Dinara note is quite interesting as it’s vastly dedicated to Nikola Tesla, icons of his life and his scientific achievements, but not much else. More often than not, most banknotes typically portray different characters, things or objects on their respective sides. This note however bears the signs of a continuum with its homage to the scientific genius and its dominant yet soft cool blue tones. However it doesn’t stand alone, all other notes in the series are consistent in repeating the single subject phenomenon. A point of distinction or simply an aberration? The answer may very well depend on who you ask.

Mystery Coin with a Swastika and the Date 2039

https://anomalien.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/coint-d.jpgIs this coin proof of the existence of parallel universes? Is it possible that it came to our world from the world where Germany won World War II and the Third Reich took over the planet? Or perhaps, it’s a glimpse into the future?

These questions arose when Diego Aviles found an extremely unusual coin at a construction site in Mexico. According to Diego, he was shocked when he looked at the image on the coin; a swastika was drawn there, and the coin itself turned out to be a Reichsmark (the monetary unit of the Third Reich).

But he was even more shocked when he looked at the engraved date “2039” .

While the leading digit of the date, the “2,” is nearly obliterated, Diego insists it’s there, and not alone. His claim gains credibility from the fact that genuine Reichsmarks from that era had a distinct appearance.

Diego Aviles shared a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bDO1cXPNn8 of his unusual discovery on YouTube in February 2018.

The coin is supposedly made of silver and is quite worn, but a counterfeit can be made so that it looks just as worn and antique. In order to distinguish a real coin from a fake, a thorough examination is needed, but it is not yet clear whether it was carried out with this coin and whether it will be carried out in the future.

Further, in addition to the swastika and date, the coin also has inscriptions on both sides.

Moreover, in addition to the swastika and the date, the coin bears inscriptions on both sides. On the side featuring the swastika and eagle, the inscription reads “Nueva Alemania” (“New Germany”).

This is a real but diminutive village in Mexico, home to just five residents in 2010, originally founded by German immigrants in the 1920s.

However, in an alternate future, it could potentially have grown into a major city. Notably, the found coin doesn’t resemble the typical Reichsmark issued in 1943.

On the reverse side of the coin, there’s a peculiar inscription: “Alles in einer Nation” (“All in one nation”), which is unlike any found on actual German currency.

This is a very strange inscription that has not appeared on any German currency. So if this is a fake, it is a very strange one, which does not even try to look like the coins issued in the real Third Reich

The most plausible explanation for discovering this coin at a Mexican construction site is that, in the 1930s, a German diplomat may have endeavored to persuade Mexico to align with their cause in the war.

Consequently, a unique collector’s coin might have been minted, reflecting the grand aspirations of the Third Reich. However, as history unfolded, Mexico sided with the Allies against Germany in 1942, causing these coins to be discarded and forgotten.

This is just a guess as there is no official answer as to where this coin came from.
